Nakakahidok na mga salitang pangbutugan

Ayon nga po sa ating kasaysayan, na ating ipinost dito, ang mga naunang nakatira sa ating mahal na bayan ay galing sa Quezon, na ngayon ay Tayabas na ang tawag, kaya sa halip na ang ating pang araw araw na salita ay may halong Bikolano; karamihan ay tagalog at halos nagmula sa salitang Quezon.

Karamihan sa ating mga salita ay sadyang hindi naiintindihan ng mga Tagalog, at kalimitan pa'y nagiging tampulan ng biro kapag ating ginagamit.  Ngunit, sino pa ba naman ang magmamahal sa ating sariling wika kung hindi tayong mga nanggaling sa ating probinsya at dating walang patid sa paggamit ng mga salitang may pagka wirdong pakinggan.

Ang atin pong planong gumawa ng isang gallery ng mga salitang Capalonga ay nagsisimula na, at salamat sa huntahan na nagaganap sa Facebook page ni Buen, marami rami na ring pong naglabasan na mga salita na tayo lamang ang gumagamit.

Tutal naman ay nagbubutugan na din lang tayo dito sa facebook, eh naisip ko na baka pwede nating gawing mas kapakipakinabang. Tutal ay nakita kong lahat tayo ay mahal ang Capalonga, may puso para sa mga taga Capalonga, bakit hindi tayo mag tatag ang isang foundation na tutulong sa mga kabataan ng Capalonga? 

 

This project was first started by my father( Sec. Jake Gosilatar). We used to feed more or less 50 children during his birthday celebration, that is every Dec. 10. And since he really has the compassion for the children ( na pag-asa daw ng ating bayan, sabi ni Gat. Jose Rizal yan ha) so, he decided to continue his project by feeding the children every Sunday. 

 

Non- sectarian ito, basta pagka uwi ng mga bata galing sa simbahan, kahit saang relihiyon sila naka bilang, welcome silang pumila sa harap ng bahay namin.

This Tatay's project started in 2000 but was on and off since it was not well funded. When I went back from Saudi, he encouraged me to join him in his mission of feeding the children. Until I went to the UAE, I carry in my heart and never forgot what we have started. Now that I moved here in Qatar, I'm trying my best to send Tatay at least 5,000 pesos each month for this dream to come to reality. 

 

So, I am encouraging you, mga kabutugan ko sa facebook, baka gusto ninyong tumulong para mapalawak ang mission na ito at makapag pakain tayo ng at least 100 children every Sunday. 

 

Because I believe that everyone has the capacity to help in our own small way. You can share your finances, your time and your talent for our children of Capalonga.

Capalonga as we once saw it

Not a week ago, inspired by the  blabs gained by the now popular work of genius vacation album of Buen, I set up a Facebook account, Capalonga Camarines Norte.  I was having a hard time putting it up and making it available online so I kind of forgotten about it and focused on building up this blog instead.  But when I [forced to] checked on the e-mail address to which this blog was registered there were already three friend requests.

and not only that, there was already a photo, readily available for viewing, shared by one of the first three members of the group.

Mrs. Veronica Jupson, shared us the picture below of herself and her friends.  I later found out in one of the chaotic chatterings inside Buen's photo album that this was actually taken in Albino beach when it was all green and had luscious foliage.

And to quote her "my friend and i stayed with the olivas and we befriended catalino florendo and catalino talento," and "the name of the doctor we worked with who was originally from there...rodolfo "boy" fermo."

Pero walang taong may kakayahang alalahanin lahat ng mga bagay na nangyari sa kanyang buhay.  Maaring dala ng pagtanda, pwede ring dahil ang alaala ay sadyang napakapait at pilit na winawaglit sa isipan.  Pero katulad ng simoy ng hangin sa pakatan, ingay ng kuliglig sa likod bahay, alat at lagkit ng hangin sa dalampasigan at kahit singaw ng lupa sa biglaang ulan, merong isang bagay na walang kupas na nagdadala ng alaala ng kahapon, pilit mo man itong kinakalimutan o pinipigalan sa paghulagpos sa iyong isipan.

Litrato...mga kodak na kung saan ikaw man ay nakasimangot, o ikaw ay nakabungisngis.  Nakapang malakasan ka man, o mukha kang yagit, nasa isang sulok ka man sa sayawan o kasalukuyang halos nakayakap sa iyong nobyo/nobya, naglalangis ang nguso sa kainan o pulang pula na sa inuman.

A picture is worth a thousand words

Hey folks, I am so sorry for the delay in posting, google is having major tantrums in my part of the world.

Anyway.

Early this January, a family now living somewhere far away had a vacation in the Philippines. The father, having enjoyed his moments of laughter with his high school buddies when they met up, decided to bring his family in his hometown, to show his lovely wife and his adorable daughter where he grew up, where he met his first friends, where he spent most of his treasured memories.

And then he uploaded it in Facebook--a very popular and very useful social networking site, [and I am thinking] he just wanted to share the pictures to his friends, little did he know that those pretty pictures would turn some people's lives upside down just by seeing the one place everyone wanted to see again.

Palong Festival 2009

Here are two videos I found in youtube of the Palong Festival, being held every Fiesta in Capalonga.  Different barangays participate with colorful and ethnic costume and flashy high-energy dance moves, in the streets and in the plaza.  Winners get high prizes from the sponsors (so I've heard).

History Class

Mga Kabihug!

Kaunting kaalaman lang po tungkol sa Capalonga.

CAPALONGA is a 4th class municipality in the province of Camarines Norte, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 26,577 people in 5,031 households.

(UPDATE: According to 2007 Population Count I checked at http://www.census.gov.ph/data/pressrelease/2008/pr0830tx.html, CAPALONGA has 29,683 people...details at the bottom)

HISTORY

*Agtas  and **Dumagats, are believed to be the first inhabitants of village used to be called "Apalong". This name was derived from a wild plant called "Palong Manok", which looks like a rooster's comb.

It is said that whenever the settlers of Apalong went to other places and asked where they came from, the usual reply is "We came from Kapalungan". Historians may comment that the natives were either referring to their place which has many "Palong" (rooster's comb) (also known as cockscomb) or maybe they wanted identification for their settlement.

Whatever it was, no record will show and no one at that time is still living, what is clearly known to Capalongueños is that this place was and still is an environment of flowers called Palong Manok.

In 1572, the Spanish Conquistador Capt. Juan de Salcedo (who died in Vigan at the age of 27, huh, young) and his men reached pacific shores and landed on Kapalongan settlement. Instead of finding gold, they found abundant wild beautiful red flowers that looked like rooster's comb. The Spaniards built a church, formed a government, and the village was made a town and officially named Capalonga. The Spaniards for some years persisted on mining for gold at Sitio Maglagonlong, and the Spanish control was described to be brutal, harsh and full of harassment until they went away leaving behind imprints on the community's cultural heritage.

It is also believed that the first migrants of Capalonga came from the neighbouring province of Quezon, formerly Tayabas. This is the reason that out of the twelve (12) municipalities of Camarines Norte, Capalonga has the highest rating and accent in speaking the Tagalog language. However, with the continuous migration process, mixed dialects has been produced. Today, like other places in the country, the dialects of the residents were enriched by various local medium of expression, thereby making no difference from the trend of other political units.

Without roads and being isolated from other towns by mountains, forest, rivers and sea, Capalonga relatively remained untouched by commerce and industry as late as 1950's. In 1956, the road to Capalonga was opened. Still, growth had been slow until Martial law changed the pace. It was in the years 1987 to 1992 that all wooden and temporary bridges have been replaced by concrete bridges. Likewise, in the late part of 2003 up to the present, the concreting of the Bagong Silang - Capalonga Road has started and existence of the Airconditioned Van Transport is now available as a result.

Nature

• Itok Falls - Located 4 km. west of the town with fresh and lush foliage and vegetation.
• Bangka-bangka Falls-Located at Barangay Catabaguangan.It is being called as Bangka-bangka(Boat),because of its boat-like shape.
• Albino Beach-Located at sitio Talagpucao Barangay Catioan with relaxing smooth waves and fine sand.
• Mount Samat-Located at Barangay Alayao. This mountain is covered by the undiscovered species of ferns, orchids and etc. There are also falls with fresh cold clear water. 
•  Sabang - located at the skirts of the town, facing the Philippine Sea.  It's where the river meets the sea.  The beach is popular to nature lovers due to its vast shoreline and beautifully carved huge stones where waves crash.

Festivals and Cultural Entertainments

• Feast of the Black Nazarene (May 13) - The town Fiesta in honor of the Black Nazarene draws devotees from all over the country. The image is said to be miraculous and its feast is particularly celebrated by Chinese businessmen, who pay annual homage and ask for long life and good fortune.
• Palong Festival (May 10-13) - Highlighted by colorful streetdancing and agro-industrial fair which expresses the local folks’ gratitude for their town’s name’s etymology, and signifies the abundant presence of "Palong Manok" (rooster's comb plant) available in the locality. Held also in celebration of the Black Nazarene’s Feast Day on May 13 at the town of Capalonga.

*Agta is the generic term used in Bikol to refer to its 40,000 natives with dark-colored skins, short stature and kinky hair. There are three other terms for them in Camarines Norte where they have managed to preserve their indigenous culture. "Kabihug" is what they call themselves; "Manide" is the term for their language; and Abian, meaning "friend" is how they are referred to by non- Agtas.)

**Dumagats also known as Negritos, mostly lived in the hillsides or mountains. They are believed to have result from a fusion of Austronesian and Melanesian ancestries, and survive from fishing and hunting.

Welcome sa ating pinakabagong tambayan!

This blog is created because of the response on the photo album posted by one of our fellow kababayan in facebook. Nakakatuwa po ang mga kwentuhan dun at lalong nakaka miss ang Capalonga.  So naisip po naming gumawa ng isang site na kung saan pwede tayong magpost ng hindi lamang mga pictures na makukuha natin sa internet, pati na rin ating mga points of view, mga kwento, mga memories, mga chismis at kung anu-ano pa na pwede at legal nating pwedeng mai-share sa ating mga kababayan na ang internet na lang ang tanging tulay para makabalik sa ating mahal na bayan.

So...help me po sa pag maintain ng blog na 'to, maghahatid po tayo ng mga naayong mga balita at saya sa ating mga kaibigan at kamag-anak at mga mahal sa buhay.

Pwede po nating gamitin ito para mag-usap lasing (biruan), kumustahan, mag promote ng ating mga sites o business, magbalita at virtually sa kahit na ano.
